Giving thanks to the universe...
Today a group of art therapy friends and I created despachos. They are a Peruvian based ritual of bundling up elements together with prayers of intention and thanks. There are many purposes for the despacho ritual, this time, our intention was to give thanks for all that we have and all that we hope to achieve in the future.
We gathered plants and fabrics, herbs and symbols, words of wisdom and trinkets and tied them into individual bundles for each of our messages to the universe. It was a beautiful process.
At the end of the day, we each took our despacho bundles with us, to despatch in the way we choose - either by earth, water or fire. That is, by burying, casting into water, or burning. My plan is to burn my despacho and cast the ashes into the wind.
